Pipe connections

Pipe connections

It is very important to choose the correct pipe connection for retarding basins. We therefore only recommend using the pipe connection shown (see bottom of page) where the inflow and outflow water is led through a pipe under the BIO-BLOK® elements.

There are many advantages to using this system, including the following:
♦ The system is essentially self-cleaning, preventing sand etc. from entering into the BIO-BLOK® element. When the water flows into the basin, the sand is lifted by the upward stream of water at the same time as there being a horizontal flow of water which is constantly moving through the pipe visa the water regulator. With the outflow of water from the basin, the water flows in the opposite direction, i.e. from the basin via the holes in the pipe and away. If any sand etc. should enter the system with the inflow of water, it will be washed out again.
♦ If any sand enters the system, it will remain in the pipe under the BIO-BLOK® elements. The sand can be removed easily using a sludge extractor through one of the two inspection chambers.
♦ The water level in the retarding basin can be inspected in one of the two inspection chambers.
♦ The inflow and outflow can be inspected on screen.
