1.1.1. Useful Information

BIO-BLOK® is the ideal filter medium, for new wastewater treatment plants as well as for renovation of existing installations. Compared to traditional treatment plants, the application of BIO-BLOK® could increase the efficiency by up to 4 times. Therefore, in most cases the installation costs could be reduced significantly.

The BIO-BLOK®, developed by EXPO-NET Danmark A/S, is a well-tested product that has proved to be very efficient in the bacteriological treatment of domestic sewage and industrial waste water.



EXPO-NET's BIO-BLOK® is suitable for:

  • Submerged, aerated filters, easily installed also in existing tanks to increase efficiency and capacity.
  • Trickling filters, to treat and at the same time oxygenate and aerate (by removing the the waste water.
  • Oxygenation of water.

The BIO-BLOK® is:
  • Available with different areas of surface (100, 150 and 200 m2 surface per m3 BIO-BLOK®). The total surface is accessible to bacteria and it is porous so that the bacteria can settle fast and easy. Also in case of occurrence of toxins in the water (chemicals, oil or the like), the full activity of the BIO-BLOK® is quickly re-established.
  • Self-cleaning (the surplus bacteria are washed off during the normal operation).

The surface measurements have been calculated by the producer. Alterations in process, material and structure may slightly change the figures above (by up to 10%)). Above filter media are available with densities of approx. 0.5 and 0.95.

BIO-BLOK® 100, BIO-BLOK® 150 and BIO-BLOK® 200 are available in heights (lengths of block tubes) from 45cm to 75cm.
